Greg Barr | Senior Pastor Greg Barr joined St. Matthews Baptist Church as Senior Pastor in 2010. Prior to accepting the call, he served pastorates in Virginia, Georgia and South Carolina. The Louisville, Kentucky native is a graduate of Georgetown College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Tim Galyon | Minister of Music & Worship Arts
The Knoxville, Tennessee native previously served churches in Ashland, Kentucky and Tennessee before accepting the call from St. Matthews Baptist Church in 2001. Tim is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Maria have two daughters, Casey and Grace.
Joyce Oliver | Discipleship Minister
Joyce Oliver hails from Bastrop, Louisiana. A graduate of Louisiana College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, she has served at St. Matthews Baptist Church since 1994. Joyce and her husband Ron have two grown sons, Nelson and William.
Brian Johnson | Minister to Students
Brian began serving at SMBC on July 15, 2015. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Exercise from Wake Forest University and a Master of Divinity from Campbell University. He has been married to Emily for 12 years and they have a five-year-old son, Zachary, and almost year-old twins, Samuel and Evelyn.

John Shapanus | Church Administrator
Before beginning his current church administrator position in 2003, John served in a similar role at a church in Indiana. He considers Shenandoah, Pennsylvania home and is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Rutgers University. John and his wife Sharon have three grown children, Jennifer, David, and Trey and they also have three grandchildren.
Charlotte Hibbs | Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor and Minister of Music and Worship Arts
Before joining the administrative support staff in 2011, Charlotte was previously employed at a child care development center, an interior design and antique business and, most recently, The Wayne E. Oates Institute. She calls the Hampton and Newport News, Virginia area home and is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Charlotte and her husband Richard are longtime members of St. Matthews Baptist Church.
Emily Thompson | Ministry Assistant
Emily, a Louisville native who grew up in St. Matthews Baptist Church, is a graduate of Georgetown College. She joined the administrative support staff in 2009. Emily is married to her college sweetheart, Matthew.
