Canoe Trip is May 26!
May 26 is the date for our annual Canoe Trip on the Blue River! Regardless of age or ability, this trip promises lots of fun and adventure! We will leave the church at 10:00 a.m. and return late afternoon. Cost is $23 per person for a canoe and $34 for a kayak. Younger/smaller children are free if riding in a canoe with two adults. If you want to bring your own canoe or kayak there is a $20 hauling charge. Call Emily at 502-896-8882 to sign up! You will need to pack a lunch. We will provide drinks. Our Game Room is open every Wednesday evening from 5:15 – 6:25 p.m. and again from 7:30 – 8:00 p.m. All ages are welcome but younger children must be accompanied by an adult in order to play certain games.
SMBC offers Upward Basketball and Cheerleading for boys and girls in kindergarten through Grade 8. Registration happens during September, October and November. Practices begin in December. Games are played on Saturdays in January and February.
High School boys and men play in leagues sponsored by Beargrass Christian Church. Sign-ups begin in November. Play begins the first week of January.
Our men (age 18 and older) play in a softball league at Watkins Memorial Methodist Church. Sign-ups begin in April. Play begins the week after Derby. Games are on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.
SMBC has been playing Dartball since 1947! We play in the Crescent Hill Dartball League which provides fellowship and friendly competition between St. Matthews area churches. Dartball is underhand darts played to baseball rules. The season runs from Labor Day to mid-April. Home games are at 7:00 p.m. Away games are at 7:30 p.m.
The Bob Downs Invitational Golf Classic is played on the Monday after Derby at Big Spring Country Club in the heart of St. Matthews. The tournament is played to share faith in Christ and to raise money for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville. The 2019 date if May 6.
SMBC sponsors the St. Matthews Street Festival 5K Walk/Run held as part of the larger Street Festival. 2018 date is August 4. Click here to register!
