The short history: Back last summer St. Matthews Baptist Church long time member Norma McCubbin invited us to take (and possibly give away) her two beloved cereus (night blooming cactus) plants. These were VERY meaningful to Norma, but she could no longer care for them while living in assisted living. We, of course, said “Yes” without really knowing just how big the two plants were! 😊 Well, they turned out to be HUGE and beautiful! Cinda King graciously agreed to divide them – and she did. We now have 46 beautiful potted night blooming cereus/cactus plants. Norma is thrilled for us to be giving these away.
(This picture of Norma is in front of a photo of one of her night blooming plants which was taken by her grandson and enlarged for her.)
The invitation: In Worship on March 30th congregants were invited to take a plant to give away. Pastor Alan Redditt preached that morning from Luke 17 with an emphasis on verses 20 & 21 which say in part “…the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” With whom will you share this part of the kingdom of God? With whom will you grow a friendship?
The sharing: And, as you give or receive one of these beautiful plants, you are invited to send us a picture or post a picture of yourself and the plant with the hashtag #kingdominourmidst
